Competition compliance

Competition law statement

Keep Alliance collaboration constructive without sharing competitively sensitive information or coordinating market behaviour.

Purpose and status

This local page carries the operational substance of CHERI Alliance CIC Statement of Competition Compliance version 1.0, dated August 2024. Members and non-member attendees must act with regard for their legal, ethical and professional obligations and for the Alliance’s purpose and interests.

Competition-law issues are fact-specific. Stop the discussion and seek advice if you are unsure.

Information that may be shared

  • Non-confidential information already in the public domain.
  • Technical industry matters, including standards and health and safety.
  • Non-strategic technical or scientific data that benefits consumers.
  • Industry communications or policy initiatives, provided competitively sensitive information is excluded and advice is taken where an initiative may exclude market operators.
  • Standards work that improves interoperability, compatibility or safety, with appropriate attention to transparency, access and competitive effects.

Information that must not be shared

Do not discuss or exchange current or future prices, factors affecting price, company-specific sales or costs, salaries and wages, hiring practices or restrictions on hiring, commercial strategy, expansion or contraction plans, or competitively significant terms involving particular suppliers or customers.

No prohibited agreements or understandings

Participants must not reach formal, informal or tacit understandings about prices, price changes, terms of sale or delivery, allocating products, territories or customers, whether or how to bid, production or sales volumes, or employee solicitation, salaries or benefits. The official statement notes that cartel agreements are automatically unlawful in the United Kingdom.
