Role and purpose

The Alliance exists to accelerate responsible, interoperable adoption of CHERI across the computing industry. Its role is to connect research, hardware, software, standards, assurance, skills and market adoption so that isolated demonstrations can become usable systems.

Why coordination is needed

No single organisation controls every dependency in a computing platform. Coordination reduces duplicated effort and gives adopters clearer routes to specifications, compatible tools and credible evidence.

How the Alliance works

1. Coordinate

Bring the organisations that own different layers of the stack into shared programmes with explicit outcomes.

2. Enable

Support specifications, open-source components, guidance, training and assurance material that reduce barriers to evaluation.

3. Promote responsibly

Explain CHERI’s benefits while stating maturity, implementation dependencies and the security problems it does not solve.

Boundaries and accountability

The Alliance can convene and enable, but implementers remain responsible for product engineering, threat modelling, verification and lifecycle support.

Use the Alliance’s current governance, membership and programme pages for organisational facts. Distinguish formal decisions from explanatory material.
